Jerry Besselman Houston firefighter for 36 years and retired in 2006. He has been on the Spring Branch Vol. fire dept. Board of Directors and the Houston fire dept. Pension Board for 11 years. "I love the fire service and can be a help to the other board members. We have accomplished a lot in 18 months while I have been on the board."

 

Robert E. ( Bob) Jones, Sr. B. S. Engineering – The University of Texas – Austin- 1959. Business career primarily involved in industrial mineral and chemical processing and mining. Positions progressed from process engineer to vice-president of manufacturing for a division of the Halliburton Company to a co-owner of a mineral processing company. In the above capacities Bob has been in charge of mining, engineering and manufacturing groups. He has extensive experience in management of domestic and international manufacturing and mining operations as well as industrial plant construction both domestic and foreign, in addition to extensive experience in formulating and complying with operational and capital budgets.
In addition, he served 10 years on the Board of Directors of a utility district near Houston and the Board of The Texas Land Owner’s Association. Locally, Bob served on the Architectural Control Committee of the Springs at Rebecca Creek and is presently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of same. He is also vice-president of the Canyon Lake Noon Lions Club.
Potential Contributions to SBVFD: "I believe that my management and budget experience can be put to beneficial use as a member of the Board."

 

John Scheffler B.S. Business Adm/Accounting -University of Nebraska at Omaha. Business career included CPA with KPMG; Controller and CFO with Financial Services Firm; Controller and CFO with private oil and gas exploration, production and trading company; and, Manager and Director of Internal Audit – Univar USA, an industrial chemical distributor.
Locally, John is involved with his church board of elders, advisor to Junior Achievement, board member of homeowners association. "I desire to become more involved in my community and make use of my professional experience. I believe I can provide oversight to help improve SBVFD’s internal controls and communications - operationally and administratively."

 

Jeff Schroeder Jeff retired from Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District where he spent 30 years as a Firefighter and the last 20 years at the rank of Engineer/Paramedic. He began his career as a Volunteer Firefighter with Citrus Heights Fire Protection District in 1979. Thereafter, he was hired as a Med-Tech, which was a full-time Paramedic working on fire based ambulances. Jeff has sat on two Homeowners Association Boards. In 2004, he ran for an elected fire board position for South Placer Fire Protection District, but did not earn the seat. However, that opportunity turned out to be a very valuable experience. He was involved with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Organization for ten years. "I was a big brother to a young lad who had no father figure in his life and we spent the whole ten years together." Jeff now lives in the Mountain Springs Ranch community. "I feel it is important to somehow be involved in the community that one lives in. After having 30 years of service from the fire service, I feel I would be able to offer some of my knowledge that I have obtained."

 

John Trowbridge John studied Management Information Systems at Wayland Baptist University and holds several certifications from the Scientific Atlanta Institute. John spent 10 years in the United States Army as a Forward Observer, serving both in the Gulf War and Desert Storm. He now resides in Lantana Ridge. He currently works from his home as a web administrator and network engineer. He has 25 years of computer network experience and is a Microsoft Certified Professional. During the past 14 years John has served as Sunday School Superintendent at Hillcrest Assemblies of God and more recently as a Sunday school teacher at Cornerstone Church where he and his family have attended since 2000. Currently John is serving on the Board of Directors at the Lantana Ridge POA and is looking forward to serving his community by ensuring that the interests of the property owners are protected through developing and protecting property values within the Lantana Ridge community. "I hope to further serve and find similar opportunities in the larger geographical area of responsibility as a board member of the Spring Branch Volunteer Fire Department. My extensive background in computers and his ability to speak openly concerning important issues will be an invaluable asset to any board."

 

Steven Cox Graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a major in Occupational Safety and Health, plus a minor in Aviation. Steven is currently Corporate Pilot for Valero Corporation. He has served on the Home Owners Association Board and President of The Crossing at Spring Creek. In addition, he volunteers at his children’s school. He would like to see his community be more involved with the Spring Branch Volunteer Fire Department.

 

Timothy Strawther Graduated from Air Force Academy/Valdosta State University & Air University with Masters Degrees. Majors in Engineering, Public Administration & Strategic Studies. Timothy is a retired Air Force Colonel (26 years) and is currently Director of Enhanced Programs for Kallman Worldwide, Inc. He is involved in Habitat for Humanities, the local schools and his Church. He is interested in contributing his time and effort to local needs.
