ESD 4 Spring Branch Fire Rescue
The Spring Branch community (located in the Hill Country just north of San Antonio) realized the need for an emergency response organization and founded a volunteer fire department in 1960 funded primarily by fund raisers and donations and manned totally by volunteers. From these humble beginnings this volunteer fire department has evolved into a multi-station, first responder organization that utilizes paid and volunteer employees. Spring Branch, Comal County, Volunteer Fire Department (SBVFD) is funded by property taxes, sales taxes, membership dues, donations and grants with an annual budget in excess of one million dollars.

Spring Branch Fire Department Board of Directors    The Spring Branch Fire Department was founded in 1960 by community volunteers who realized the need for an emergency response organization. The department has become a landmark in the area due to the countless hours of volunteer efforts and dedicated service they provided to the organization. Spring Branch is located in the Hill Country just north of San Antonio.
As a sub-contractor to Emergency Service District #4 (ESD #4), Spring Branch, Comal County, Volunteer Fire Department (SBVFD)has been entrusted to provide emergency first responder services to over 125 square miles of Northwestern Comal County. The SBVFD is a non-profit Texas corporation with a member elected Board of Directors. SBVFD is led by several dynamic professionals: Assistant Fire Chief Dan Oakes in charge of training/operations , Assistant Chief Gary Skipp in charge of volunteer operations , and Executive Director Elaine Garcia in charge of all administrative functions.
